The Manosphere: A Response to 20/20 with Doctor Illusion
Myself and Doctor Illusion sat down to have a chat about what the Manosphere actually is, in preparation for the 20/20 hatchet job; I’ll argue with Paul Elam some other day, right now it’s time to circle the wagons. With any luck, it should be a fun time for all, veterans and newbies of this deep, dark corner of the Internet.

When the media cover *any* story, it’s good to always keep in mind the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect.
“Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murray’s case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect. I call these the “wet streets cause rain” stories. Paper’s full of them.
In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. It’s a healthy skepticism — but with the decline of journalistic standards it’s all too easy to slide into cynicism.

Great that you used ‘Civic Virtue’ as the video image. I had forgotten about that statue – been almost 3 years. May write something about him. He and his story make a good symbol of the manosphere. His detractors called him ‘Fat Boy’. The manosphere ought to have a naming contest. I can only come up with ‘Dude’ and ‘Bob’. No imagination. HA!
