About

I was born in Hamilton, Ontario, but grew in up in Calgary, Alberta.  I studied History at McMaster University (focusing on early-modern, though my focus has shifted to medieval since then), and I have an ongoing interest in Philosophy, Political Science, and Mathematics.  I served in the Canadian Army for seven years as an Infantry Corporal, before leaving it to pursue a variety of careers in the civilian world.  I’ve worked as an Ad Man, an RF Engineer, a carpenter, and a film maker.

I like to describe my politics as “Catholic Medievalist” – that saves me from having to pick sides in Hegelian debates – though I have sympathies for the Red Toryism which once thrived in Canada.  Sadly, modernism has taken over the world.  Our grammar has been destroyed, solipsism is the rule, and people are little more than barking dogs.  Ergo, the title of this blog: Stares at the World.

That’s what I do; and in these pages I try to explain what I see.
